Otto M. Schwarz is not only a composer of symphonic music, but he also composes for films and documentaries. This is the genre in which Pictures of Vienna for string orchestra were written, depicting various sights, events, or characters from Vienna’s golden age. By writing this work as if composed in that time, the composer has created an immediate link to the era. Franz Joseph I ruled Austria for almost 68 years. He was the longest reigning Emperor of Austria and was married to Elisabeth of Austria (Sissi).
